Senior Project Developer- SOLAR

Our client designs, builds, finances, owns, and operates solar power facilities in the US. The Senior Project Developer will be directly responsible for the implementation of specific solar projects from initial conception through construction and commissioning.

This position will be directly responsible for development of key relationships with major Utilities and Municipal Authorities and will take the lead in developing new markets and channels to increase uptake of environmentally sustainable products through identifying business opportunities and negotiating commercial arrangements.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Develop network of contacts for Utility scale opportunties for solar projects
  • Prepare and submit project proposals to local Utilities and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements.  
  • Work with system engineering to prepare overall project layout, and cost estimates, bid packages, and evaluate and negotiate contracts.
  • Prepare and manage the project development project specific schedules.
  • Secure necessary local, state, and federal permits for construction and operation.
  • Work with procurement and engineering specialists to develop processes and to ensure that procurement od modules and system components are done in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Work wityh accounting and finance to develop pro-formas, and ensure that system cost and performance metrics are compiled and reviewed in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Manage project development contracts, budget and schedule such that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Gather and report on competitive and market intelligence.
  • Will travel as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years in development/project management of energy related projects.
  • Experience with analyzing & interpreting agreements.
  • Experience dealing with local, state, and federal permits.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project contracts and overall development activity.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience interfacing and negoatiating with landowners.
  • Ability to articulate proposals and present pursuasively.
  • Experience in managing multiple project contracts and contract negotiation.
  • Experience in PV, Solar Thermal, or other renewable energy industry a plus.
  • Strong written communications.

Project Developer- WIND

Our client has been involved in the development, construction, or operations of over 20,000 MW of power generation with another 10,000 MW currently in development.

Background & qualifications:

  •  Preferably 3-4 years of wind development, no less than 2 full years with the same company.
  • Should have hands-on experience in permitting one or more projects (FAA, military, microwave, bats, birds, local zoning, etc).
  • Should have strong experience working with meteorologists
  • Preferable if he/she has experience working on federal or state lands
  • Should be familiar with electrical interconnection process for wind projects Should have some commercial negotiation experience (e.g., land, ppa, development agreements, etc)
  • Should have a grasp on project economics Additional 2-4 years of professional experience preferred (not as important if they have 4 years of wind experience)
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • Location is Northern California

Principal Mechanical Engineer- SOLAR

Our Client seeks an experienced Principle Engineer to lead the mechanical engineering  for structures and systems with the following background & qualifications:

  •  Preferably 10 years of project and product development experience.
  • Should have hands-on experience driving projects.
  • Should have strong experience managing a team.
  • Preferable if he/she has experience working on air subsystems, water subsystems, racking.
  • Should be familiar with Solidworks(r). 
  • Design conceptualization and optimization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven ability to minimize material costs while developing more efficient designs for manufacturing.

Senior Project Manager- Solar Utility Projects

Our client develops, owns, and operates Solar Power Power Plants serving the US and worldwide markets and is a leader and pioneer in the industry.

 Description:

The Senior Project Manager works closely with project development team in day-to-day coordination of all project-related development activities with a focus on moving projects forward. The Senior Project Manager will develop cost budgets and schedules; estimate, forecast, and budget; interface with project development team as well as third-party contractors. This role will assist in determining project contracting strategy; administer contracts; maintain, update and revised cost forecast and schedule; identify risks and analyze and evaluate cost and schedule plan to resolve any issues; develop regular project controls reports for project development team and management.

Essential Functions:

  •  Coordinates planning and scheduling activities including development of summary and detailed project schedules
  • Provides cost engineering support to the project team and management including work to improve project cost estimating and controls.
  • Work with project team involved with permitting and preparing environmental impact studies for projects.
  • Develops cost reporting methods and generates reports on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining project documentation and data coordination controls
  • Interacts frequently with the project team on tracking performance against budget and schedule, monitoring progress, identifying concerns, and developing improvement actions.
  • Works collaboratively with the multi-functional team to prepare budgets and plans.
  • Designs and implements cost and schedule control systems for project.
  • Coordinates and interfaces with project team to maintain up-to-date information.

Qualificatons:

  • BA/BS Degree.
  • At least ten (10) years of project management experience, preferably in the electric power sector.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of successful project management practices.
  • Ability to work independently and to handle multiple tasks.
  • Experience with project management software and tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with cost accounting and financial controls.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance for the design, development, permitting, and operation of power plants a plus.
  • Experience with PPA’s and Interconnection Agreements a plus.
  • PMP certification a plus.
  • Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment a must.

Pre-Sales Design Engineer- SOLAR

 Essential Functions:
• A pivotal member of the Engineering team providing critical, pre-sales support to the Project Development Group.
• Technical sales liaison between the customer, project/business development and the systems engineering group.
• Support the pre-contract engineering and sales process and the hand-off of signed contracts to the engineering/construction team.

Experience:
• 5 years professional experience preferably in a construction related field with 3+ years experience in commercial/industrial/utility-scale solar.
• Ability to provide high-level design and performance analysis of solar systems.
• Experience/knowledge of design and permitting process/activities for construction projects.
• Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects in parallel.
• Ability to assist with the engineering, and cost estimation of the procurement and construction of solar power plants.
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD with a strong capability in Excel.
• Proficiency or ability to learn solar simulation programs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.


Core Responsibilities:
• Support business development efforts on the conceptual design and cost estimating of large commercial and utility scale solar power plants.
• Attend off-site customer meetings and perform site assessments of potential projects.
• Perform technical due diligence on RFPs and new project opportunities and coordinate the generation of required response documents including array layouts, single-line diagrams, preliminary project schedules, scopes of work, equipment or material specifications and engineering validation.
• Interact with customer technical and commercial staff during the project development process.
• Become an expert in solar plant output performance predictions and utilize programs such as PVSyst and PVSol to simulate energy production.
• Be technically proficient with modules, system designs, and technical performance.
• Remain current on all customer and industry related news and events.
• Attend customer meetings and perform site visits for solar plant feasibility and pre-engineering phase
• Assist with new business development activities including customer presentations.
